To sum it all up: A fantastic place to stay whilst in Rabat with warm welcoming staff and a great atmosphere!
Airport transfer: We were immediately greeted at the arrivals by a member of the hotel staff who escorted us to the hotel which was a short 15 minute journey to the medina walls where we had our first taste of the fabulous medina life.
On our arrival at the hotel we had a pleasant surprise which will be for you to discover if you choose to go to the Riad Kalaa…
Room: we stayed in one of the courtyard rooms called ‘Nomad’
Beautiful room with a very high ceiling and a big spacious bathroom.
We had fruits and 2 bottles of water everyday.
The room had a fridge, air conditioning, toiletries (including hairdryer and tissues) and candles.
Breakfast: served to you with a variety of things to choose from such as Moroccan soup, dried fruits, pancakes, Moroccan style pastries, coffee, tea, Moroccan tea, hot chocolate, orange juice, yoghurt, bread etc all served by a lovely lady who I believe is called Miriam. Whilst suffering from a cold I picked up in England, she kindly helped to pick me up with a local remedy – warm freshly squeezed orange juice with honey.
Roof top terrace:
During our stay we had the privilege of having it to ourselves most days, (other than the sweet visiting birds who chose to refresh themselves by the pool,) when we didn’t travel around Rabat or Morocco. Towels are laid on the sun loungers and changed daily. The pool was ideal for a refreshing dip and swim after lying under the Moroccan sun.
Dinner – excellent scenery in the courtyard, high quality local food (starter, main and dessert) and a great service! The meals could have been cheaper for hotel guests however.
Spa: Had a 30 minute full body massage – pleasant and would recommend it. Very reasonable price also.
Location: Hotel could not have been better located. Medina (old town) is a wonderful place to experience Rabat life with plenty of friendly locals. The hotel is also close to the beach, which has an excellent sunset in the evening. It is also a reasonable distance to the main sites in Rabat.
*** there are excursions and guided tours offered by the hotel to Rabat and neighbouring towns, but this seemed a bit expensive compared to getting on a train, so we took the local transport and experienced it the Moroccan way, which was great! The train station was a 15 minute walk away instead!
I have recommended the Riad Kalaa to a friend who has already booked a place here for October! Many thanks to all the hotel staff for your kindness and hospitality. We look forward to coming back again in the near future!
